Who We Are
ESI International helps people around the world improve the way they manage their projects, contracts, requirements and vendors. And, we’ve been doing this for a very long time—since 1981 to be exact.
ESI has a long-standing academic partnership with The George Washington University (GW) in Washington, DC. Since 1984, GW has awarded certificates to those who complete our programmes. Certificates include associate’s certificates, master’s certificates, advanced master’s certificates and professional certificates. Although they don’t carry academic credit, certificates from ESI and GW are well respected and are an excellent way for our students to distinguish themselves as leaders in the marketplace.
ESI is headquartered in Arlington, VA, with offices in 25 locations around the world. The company has approximately 325 employees and more than 600 instructors worldwide.
ESI’s Services
ESI delivers continuous learning programs that help our students get better results from their projects, contracts, requirements and vendor relationships. Our high-quality training, extensive global infrastructure and proven operational excellence allow our corporate and government clients to develop the skills and talents of their technical and specialised employees, consistently implement strategic plans and increase the effectiveness of their internal systems and processes.
To date, ESI has served more than one million professionals and 1,100 clients worldwide.
Project Management
ESI’s project management training courses are designed to teach students how to deliver their projects on time, on budget and within scope. Our courses cover all nine project management body of knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) areas tested in the PMP® certification exam. The program consists of three tracks — Project Management, Information Technology (IT) Project Management and Courses for Experienced Project Managers.
Programme Management
The discipline of programme management focuses on the many complex interdependencies between component projects and ensuring those projects remain firmly aligned with overall organisational objectives. A successful programme manager needs to be able to see beyond each individual project and think about the bigger picture — namely, business results. This requires a broad range of skills in project management, business and leadership. ESI's new Programme Management Professional Development Programme offers an array of courses that support PMI's project management body of knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) knowledge areas and The Standard for Programme Management, as well as other key business skill areas determined to be critical to successful programme management.
Business Analysis
A business analyst is a project professional who gathers and executes project and systems requirements for understandable, actionable results. Our Business Analysis Professional Development Programme gives students a structured approach for determining requirements, which includes defining scope, gathering and documenting requirements, communicating those requirements, identifying solutions and verifying that they have been met.
Business Skills
For the technical experts of the world, specialised skills are a given. ESI’s Business Skills Programme — Training for Technical and Specialised Professionals is a comprehensive, integrated curriculum that provides these professionals with the practical “softer” skills they need to succeed in an environment that requires a broader business mindset.
Delivery Options
One of ESI’s key differentiators in the marketplace is our ability to offer our students and clients a truly flexible learning experience. Whether they train in one of our public training locations around the world, on-site at their own location or online through our dynamic, instructor-facilitated e-Training programme or our new Virtual Classroom, ESI students can choose the delivery option that works best for them.
Public Classroom Training
Virtually all of our more than 100 courses are available publicly in our more than 85 public training locations around the world. Training in public classrooms allows our students to meet other professionals and learn from their experiences. Students also build a network of contacts they can call on even when class is over.
On-site Training
For our many clients, we offer on-site training, which puts one of our expert instructors at a client’s location for course delivery. This allows students from the same organisation to train together. Plus, on-site courses can be tailored to be more relevant to an on-site audience.
e-Training
With ESI’s innovative e-Training Programme, our students can learn at their own pace, on their own schedule. Each of these courses place participants in a fictional, but realistic, environment where they solve a series of subject-related challenges. Online learning is convenient and cost-effective for both our individual students and their organisations.
Virtual Classroom
The Virtual Classroom is ESI's newest delivery option. It's not a mysterious new technology — it's simply a Web-based conferencing platform with powerful features that enable live, interactive class online using "Voice over Internet" for the audio. It is fully instructor-led and includes group discussion, team exercises (in online "breakout rooms"), quizzes and lectures. Participants interact with each other and an expert instructor together in real time via microphone and text chat.
